Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This page lists the ones this site uses and what each is for. It is short because the list is short.
What this site uses
- Functional cookies. Set by WordPress, the software this site runs on. They handle things like keeping a session consistent and remembering a comment field. Without them parts of the site stop behaving correctly.
- Caching. The site uses page caching to load quickly, which can set a cookie identifying which cached version to serve you. It holds no personal information.
- Analytics. Where analytics is running, it sets a cookie that distinguishes a returning visit from a new one, so page popularity can be counted without counting the same person repeatedly. It is used to see which pages are worth improving.
What this site does not use
- Advertising cookies. There are no adverts on this site.
- Cross site tracking that follows you to other websites.
- Data brokers or audience selling of any kind.
- Social media tracking pixels.
Turning them off
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, usually under privacy or site settings. Blocking analytics cookies costs you nothing here: the site works exactly the same, and I simply see one fewer visit in the statistics. Blocking functional cookies may cause parts of the site to behave oddly, which is true of most websites.
Changes
If anything is added that sets a cookie, such as a contact form or an embedded video, this page gets updated before it goes live. The wider picture of what data this site handles is in the privacy policy, and anything you want to ask about it can go through the contact page.
